Tiny Eden Plants
About 40 species, four growth stages, and realistic plant care — what is confirmed so far.
Facts last checked: August 28, 2026 · full re-check at launch on September 7, 2026
Pre-release coverage: everything below comes from official store pages, developer announcements and demo hands-on. We re-verify every fact at launch on September 7, 2026.
Plants Overview
Plants are the heart of Tiny Eden, and the developers lean into realism: the base game ships with around 40 plant species — microgreens, root vegetables, flowers and berry bushes — and the team says everything that made it into the game was first grown for real in their own indoor tests (official developer FAQ, May 2026; dev log #4, July 2026). Mushrooms, vines and trees are named as possible post-launch expansions.
Confirmed So Far
| System | What is confirmed | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Species | ~40 at launch: microgreens, root vegetables, flowers, berry bushes. No plant is locked behind progression, but some seeds require standing with apartment residents. | Official FAQ, May 2026 |
| Growth stages | Four: Sprout → Seedling → Mature → Wilting. Early stages need care (weeding, disease treatment, conditions); mature plants are harvested; wilting plants can signal replacement or attract pollinators. | Official FAQ, May 2026 |
| Light | Depends on where you place the pot; shading nets and grow lights adjust it. | Official FAQ, May 2026 |
| Temperature | Varies by location and season — balconies are warmer than rooftops, colder than indoors; heaters and air conditioners adjust it. | Official FAQ, May 2026 |
| Diseases & pests | Fungus and aphids are in the game; the sprayer treats diseases, and beneficial insects/pollinators can be attracted. | Official playtest notes, May 22, 2026 |
| Breeding | Each harvest offers a profit-vs-research choice; research unlocks new varieties. Outcomes are deliberately luck-based (e.g. frost-resistant purple tomatoes), and varieties can be shared between players. | Official FAQ, May 2026 |
| Companion planting | Confirmed mechanic — official example: basil protects tomatoes from pests. | Official FAQ, May 2026 |
What the Current Demo Shows
The ~40-species count above is the full game FAQ, not the demo inventory. Demo playthroughs of the July 2026 build (three shorter sessions plus one 7h44m session on July 9, 2026, auto captions) are a smaller, gated set:
- Grown or harvested in footage: strawberries, pak choi, peas / pea shoots, cornflowers, beans (not the same crop as peas), chamomile, parsley, onions, radishes.
- Unlock later in the same demo: tomatoes and cauliflower — they were locked in the first hours, then bought after a later shop tier. Do not treat “12 crops” as a hard demo cap.
- Seen on recipes or as upcoming seeds, not bought in that long session: cucumber, lettuce, bell pepper. Cookbook entries can outrun the seed shop.
- Stacking: strawberries stacked to 24 per slot in the July 9 session; harvest filled the backpack at least once (auto captions).
- Wilting plants could be removed in July–August 2026 footage. Older review reports of un-removable dying plants have not shown up in these sessions.
Basil-and-tomato companion planting is an official FAQ example for the full game; the long demo session did not use it.

Frequently Asked Questions
How many plants are in Tiny Eden?
About 40 species at launch — microgreens, root vegetables, flowers and berry bushes (official developer FAQ, May 2026). Mushrooms, vines and trees are named as possible future additions.
How do I remove dying plants in Tiny Eden?
Wilting is an official growth stage: a wilting plant can be replaced, or kept to attract pollinators (official FAQ, May 2026). When a plant is fully dying the game prompts you to remove it, and in current-build demo footage (July–August 2026) removal completes normally — earlier player reports of un-removable dying plants look fixed or situational. We re-check at launch.
Can you crossbreed plants in Tiny Eden?
Yes — choosing research over profit at harvest unlocks new plant varieties, with deliberately luck-based results you can share with other players (official developer FAQ, May 2026).
