Tiny Eden Soil
"You don't feed the plant — you feed the soil": the official soil model, explained.

Pre-release coverage: everything below comes from official store pages, developer announcements and demo hands-on. We re-verify every fact at launch on September 7, 2026.
Soil Overview
Soil is Tiny Eden's signature system — the developers titled a whole dev log "You Don't Feed the Plant - You Feed the Soil" (July 16, 2026). Because every plant grows in a container, what goes into that container matters more than in any open-field farming game: the mix decides how much water it holds, how fast it dries, and whether roots have room.
Confirmed So Far
| System | What is confirmed | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Components | Soil consists of seven agricultural components: compost, sand, clay, perlite, coco coir, peat — plus one secret ingredient. | Official FAQ, May 2026 |
| Chemistry | Modelled parameters: NPK and micronutrients, aeration, water permeability and retention, acidity. | Official FAQ, May 2026 |
| Soil life | Plants consume nutrients and are affected by organic degradation, soil-borne diseases, growth hormones and immune boosters. | Official FAQ, May 2026 |
| Fertilizers | Three forms: pellet, liquid and aerosol. | Official FAQ, May 2026 |
| Realism claim | "If you apply the same techniques in real life, things should grow just fine" — simplified only where gameplay demands. | Official FAQ, May 2026 |
What the Current Demo Shows
Seven components is the full game FAQ. Demo playthroughs of the July 2026 build start with only compost and sand as integer mixes; perlite showed up in the shop later in a 7-hour session. These ratios are demo playthrough facts, not official cards:
- Pak choi: 6 compost + 4 sand (on-screen widget in multiple July 2026 sessions).
- Peas: 5 compost + 5 sand (same footage).
- Strawberries: quoted as 100% compost in the July 9, 2026 session (auto captions — not a second-screen confirmation).
- Beans + parsley were mixed around 6:1 in that same session while preparing Nyx's flower delivery — treat as one run's reading.
The Alt overlay in the demo shows NPK, remaining compost, moisture and temperature. You can over-water; several crops died from it in the long session.
Open Questions for Launch
- Exact mix recipes per plant family and the numeric ranges behind NPK/acidity — demo hands-on and launch build will fill this table; no invented values.
- What the seventh "secret ingredient" is.

Frequently Asked Questions
How does soil work in Tiny Eden?
You blend seven components (compost, sand, clay, perlite, coco coir, peat and a secret seventh) and manage NPK, micronutrients, aeration, water retention and acidity — plants draw the mix down over time (official developer FAQ, May 2026).
Is the soil simulation realistic?
The developers aim for scientific accuracy with gameplay compromises — their claim: apply the same techniques in real life and things should grow (official FAQ, May 2026). The team says they grow every in-game plant for real.
