Pre-release coverage: everything below comes from official store pages, developer announcements and demo hands-on. We re-verify every fact at launch on September 7, 2026.
Prologue
The setup, per the official description: life in a grey megacity changes when a simple packet of seeds arrives at your door. The demo makes it concrete — you play Joy, a researcher whose lab lost its funding, moving into the Garden Tower apartment of your travelling friend Holly. The current demo opens this story with 2–3 hours of story-driven quests (official demo announcement, July 8, 2026).
The tutorial beats run in a fixed order — verified across three creators' full playthroughs of the July 2026 build: read the note at the tower entrance (via your tablet, Tab), enter the apartment, clear the trash from the balcony and set the planters upright, then follow the knocking sound to a cabinet — inside is your robot assistant, who registers you as the new resident and starts handing out tasks. Objective wording below is transcribed from demo footage and may differ slightly in the release build.
Main Quest Chain — Opening Act
- Water the balcony plants. The robot flags the strawberries as urgent; fill the watering bar to the green zone (90% moisture for strawberries), then water the pak choi. Teaches the fill-to-target watering minigame — a precise hit grants a growth bonus.
- Finish the cleaning. Pick up the vacuum cleaner (tool wheel, Q) and clear the dirty spots.
- Buy garden shears ($5). The strawberries have fruited but stems are fragile — order shears in the tablet shop, collect them from the parcel terminal in the hallway. You start with $100.
- Harvest the strawberries. Hold Alt to highlight everything ready to pick.
- First sale & first sowing. The robot lists your strawberries for sale (+$10) and sends you to the cabinet for strawberry seeds — sowing is a timing bar, release in the green zone. Water what you planted.
- The stray cat. A building email asks someone to take in the cat living on the roof. Ride the elevator up, watch the cutscene, then buy and place a cat bed ($10) — you have adopted Bimbus. Sleep to end day one.
- Climate basics. Morning tutorial: Alt now shows per-pot status (NPK, compost level, water, temperature). Open the balcony window as instructed, buy the garden fork ($5) and clear your first weeds.
- The DIY club order — 8 strawberries. Neighbours loved your produce; harvest eight strawberries, take the elevator down to the Atrium and hand them to the club contact with the marker overhead. Completing it unlocks the Vitamin Salad recipe and a parcel gift: compost, sand and pak choi seeds.
- Soil mixing. Fill the new planter to the recipe widget — 6 compost + 4 sand for pak choi — then sow and water. Every plant wants its own blend.
- First cooked dish. Move harvest into the fridge, open the stove (E) and cook the Vitamin Salad (1 pak choi + 4 strawberries in the demo build). List it for sale, accept the incoming order in the tablet, deliver in the Atrium — $20.
- Crafting planters. Buy the hammer; the DIY club's thank-you parcel contains a planter blueprint, pea seeds and the Simple Healthy Mix recipe (6 strawberries + 3 pea shoots). Build three planters (B menu → place frame → hammer), assign peas (E), fill 5 compost + 5 sand, sow and water.
- Reputation ramp. Two parallel goals close the opening act: raise DIY club reputation to level 2 (cook and deliver orders) and plant 8 different species. Level 2 puts the key to the second room in the shop — the locked room next to your kitchen, your future laboratory, and the demo's bridge into the endgame quests (gather materials and cook two advanced dishes for the DIY helpers).
Player reviews previously reported a broken cornflower quest in the demo; in the footage we checked (July–August 2026 builds), buying cornflower seeds and the flower-delivery story beat both completed normally. We will re-verify at launch.
Side Quests & Optional Finds
- The Atrium is more than a market. Elevator down: café, cinema, library, shop, parcel terminal — plus the trading hub, where you can sell raw produce at manually adjusted prices (cooked dishes pay far better).
- Your own store, "Tiny Market". A story email grants a trading licence for a commercial space in the Atrium; stock at least three products on its shelves to open. Visible from the start — it stays locked until the licence arrives. One long demo playthrough priced the stall at $50 (July 9, 2026, auto captions).
- The research-database subplot. Mid-demo, a former colleague's intern emails about your locked lab data — it turns into a small detective chain: grow the right flowers, make a rooftop delivery inside a 9–11 PM window, then meet a contact in the Atrium. Worth doing for the story alone.
- The drone. Appears in the shop at $150 — a real saving goal in demo economy. Buying it does not activate automation by itself: a Drone Activity: Watering skill also gates it. A 7h44m demo playthrough (July 9, 2026, auto captions) ended without the drone working.
- Second balcony. Opening the second room reveals another balcony with a view of the city's reactor district — and more growing space to plan around.
After the Opening Act — Current Demo Playthroughs
These beats sit after the 2–3 hour story pitch. They come from demo playthroughs of the July 2026 build, not from the store FAQ:
- Room 3 costs $1,000 in the same sessions that sell room 2 for $50 (demo playthroughs, including the July 9, 2026 long session).
- The lab stalls on onions that run too hot. Helpers ask for caramelized onion and bean stir fry; one long session had to install a space heater before the onions would finish and the lab would unlock.
- Accept orders on the tablet first. Cooking a dish without accepting the Tab order left it undeliverable in that session.
- Recipes can be bought in the shop, not only handed out by quests (cornflower tea, strawberry jam, herb-bean stew and chamomile tea showed up as purchases).
- Coins on the floor were quoted at $5 each in the July 9, 2026 auto captions — not a second-screen confirmation.
